What is digital signage?

Digital signage is a combination of technologies to display digital images, video, web pages, weather data, restaurant menus, or text, thus to create digital interactions. They can be found in public spaces, transportation systems, museums, stadiums, retail stores, hotels, restaurants and corporate buildings etc., to provide wayfinding, exhibitions, marketing and outdoor advertising. Digital signage technology is used as a network of electronic displays – from a couple to thousands – that are centrally managed and individually addressable for the display of text, animated or video messages for advertising, information, entertainment and merchandising to targeted audiences.

Let’s dive deep into digital signage

In our world, engaging the audience with screen displayed content is easy. There are several ways to solve it, like connecting PC or laptop to screens or enabling your TVs media player with a flash drive and you are fine to go.
Would it be this easy or there are many other important factors to be considered?

We think there are! There are several factors which you need to focus on, when you choose to engage or inform your audience. Let us discover them piece-by-piece, based on the three key principles we, at AISS Technologies set out when we envisioned to make the mastery of digital interactions possible:

1.  Reliability
The most important aspect of displaying digital content – when speaking about user experience – is the reliable playback. There are many cases when a simple solution is just not enough! Think about power outage, bandwidth problems, poor hardware quality, compatibility issues, slow playback, handling combined content types in different sizes and there are many more what you simply cannot get prepared for.
2.  Drive and Control
The second important aspect of digital signage systems is that you need to drive the attention spin and manage the content you want to share. It is as easy as broadcasting a presentation if you have to handle one screen. But, it becomes fuzzy, when there are more screens in the game, controlled remotely, placed to different locations.
3.  Personalized Interactions
For us digital signage goes hand-in-hand with personalized interactions which allows end users to interact with digital content via touchscreens, sensors or QR codes. This aspect cannot be tackled with a simple solution, but gives the essence of digital interactions, for example, participate in a poll, play a game, or share social network content.

Our SCREEENER Digital Signage platform has been designed to address all of the above. It allows you to show a large variety of digital content, consistently and with minimal playback interruption. It allows you to manage everything centrally in the cloud, no matter where your screens are located, using content that goes beyond just videos or images, enabling you to create real, personalized interactions through smart technology.
